The Los Angeles Live Score Film Festival features short films with original scores performed live-to-picture by Helix Collective. Winning film composers were paired with each selected short film to write an original score, performed live by Helix Collective at the festival. The participating short films were selected by nomination of our festival partners and our independent judging panel. The films include a wide spectrum of genres including animation, drama, suspense, documentary, comedy, and dance. Awards for Best Picture and Best Musical Score will be chosen by audience vote and presented at the close of the festival.

The 2017 festival is presented in collaboration with Helix Collective, the Academy of Scoring Arts, and the New York Film Academy. Our 2017 festival sponsors are Megatrax, Women in Film International Committee, and India Sweets & Spices.

General Admission Tickets include:

6:30pm Panel with filmmakers and composers hosted by Brian Ralston of SCOREcast

7:30-9pm Screening with live performance of the scores by Helix Collective

9-10pm Reception catered by India Sweets & Spices

Now in it’s fourth year, LALSFF’s goal is to highlight the role of collaboration between composers and filmmakers. Acting like a talent agent, the festival brings experts in the two disciplines together. At the screenings, filmmakers and composers hear and see the work of new colleagues, meet new collaborators, and establish working relationships with each other.
