Dr. Skyler Madison Fontana will lead an interactive and experiential professional workshop for writers and screenwriters on how Jung’s Active Imagination can be used to inspire and assist us in writing our stories. Dr. Fontana’s research into Jungian and Archetypal Psychology, and mythic stories led her to formulate a process that helps writers and screenwriters to write and complete more compelling stories that tap into both the personal and the collective unconscious.

Dr. Fontana says, “Jung turned to a process he called active imagination in search of his personal myth.” Using a similar process, we can explore what we are being called to write with a similar method that provides a way into more engaged writing of our own. If myth is the language of the psyche and active imagination is a way to facilitate a conversation between the conscious and the unconscious, by bringing the two in dialogue we can gain access to material that can become inspiration for our stories.”

This process gives writers a reliable way to reach beyond the deeply and uniquely personal to find the mythical stories that hold the potential of capturing the hearts and minds of many. Actors have Stanislavsky’s Method that helps them create deeper characters and refine roles swiftly. The legacy of Jung’s method can be used by writers, screenwriters, and storytellers of all kinds to fashion tales that resonate with people on a deeper level.
